New Civics Education Textbook for Israel, and an (Inevitable) Public Uproar

The preparation and ensuing debate over the new 516-page civics textbook for Israeli students has raged more than five years. The raucous debate involved  national press and radical websites, on both the left and the right. An intense discussion fulminated in the comparatively new Academia-IL, the nation-wide email forum of Israel’s leading scientists and scholars.

Welcome! A message from Impact’s founder

It is a great pleasure to write Impact’s first blog on the new site. The organization was initially set up with the limited objective of monitoring whether the 1993 Oslo Accord between Israel and the Palestinian Authority was being supported by a positive change in the education of Palestinian children, namely promoting mutual acceptance, mutual recognition, reconciliation and peace between the two peoples.
