The Challenges of Development and Education
IMPACT-SE Presentation – April 7, 2010

2010-04-07IMPACT-SE presented to a group of 60 French MBA student-entrepreneurs on a study mission from the prestigious HEC Paris. The mission was organized by French think tank Le Cercle and focused on the theme: “Can the economy be a political tool in the Middle East?” The presentation, entitled “The Challenges of Development and Education,” illustrated the difficulties facing education systems and the intrinsic connection between economic development, quality of education and education for peace and tolerance toward the “other,” especially in the Middle East. Prof. Muhammad Dajani Daoudi, Founding Director of the Palestinian movement ‘Wasatia,’ then presented the approach of the movement which draws upon Islam and the values of peace, tolerance, moderation and acceptance which it shares with other religions. The presentations, which took place at IMPACT-SE’s offices at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, were followed by a lively question and answer session which emphasized the importance of the students’ future roll as business leaders for the promotion of peace.
